John J. and Helen E. Shanks, Logansport, will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary with an open house from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, March 13 in the American Legion, 828 Burlington Avenue in Logansport.

Mr. Shanks and Helen Wilson were married March 12, 1950, in Market Street Methodist Church by the Rev. E.M. Talley.

She is retired from Federal Mogul, Inc., and he is a retired firefighter from the Logansport Fire Department and a self-employed carpenter.

Their children are Cindy (Herb) Novotny, Winona Lake; Marcy (David) Abel, Carmel; and Tony Shanks and his fiancé, Kyle Lauter, Logansport.

They also have four grandchildren, Katie and Ben Abel, Taylor and Tanner Shanks; two stepgrandchildren, Kathy (Jerry) Munger and Nick Novotny; and three stepgreat-grandchildren, Alexandria Novotny and Cole and Jake Munger.
