In their own words

by Melissa Soria

Editor’s note: Pharos-Tribune lifestyle writer Melissa Soria poses a question to a group of youngsters each week to get their take on a topic. We hope you enjoy their responses as much as we do. We polled children at Columbia Elementary School in Logansport after they attended an assembly with children’s author, Michelle Medlock Adams:

What did you learn about writing from Adams?

That you can write any kind of book.

- Abbie Christensen, fifth-grade

You can get a long ways in life with writing.

- Jake Hinkle, fourth-grade

I learned that it’s not always about the money. It’s about focusing on writing. I also decided to write a book called “Michelle Adams for sale.” It’s about me wanting her job.

- Joceline Valdovinos, fifth-grade

You always have to pay attention and be a good interviewer.

- Michael Avarez, fifth-grade

She showed me all of the things you can do with writing.

- Christian Hall, fifth-grade
