Police acknowledge reports of shots fired at three houses

News release offers few details, says investigation ongoing.

LOGANSPORT — Police issued a news release this morning concerning recent incidents of shots fired at local residences.

"The Logansport Police Department is currently investigating three separate incidents of shots fired into residences in Logansport," the release said. "The first incident took place on July 16, 2012, at approximately 11 p.m.  The second call was reported on July 19, 2012, just before 4 a.m.  The third call reportedly happened between the hours of 3 a.m. and 5 a.m. on July 20, 2012. At this time the investigation is ongoing, however it has revealed all three homes were intentionally targeted and not random acts."

Police had previously released a report of a single incident in the 2100 block of High Street where police found two slugs and bullet holes in the east window, southeast window and southeast wall.

A woman at the house said residents had heard a banging noise the night before but had thought someone was simply banging on the walls. They awoke the next morning the next morning to find slugs on the floor of two rooms.

Residents say a 7-year-old, a 2-year-old and a 7-month-old were sleeping in the home at the time of the shooting.

The release sent by Detective 1st Sgt. Bryan D. Hillis offered no details of the incidents.

"At this time, this is all that is available," Hillis said in an accompanying email.
