PERU —
The Miami County Sheriff Department is investigating a man who recently founded a drum and bugle group in Peru after authorities learned the man has been charged with child exploitation in Mississippi.
Bob Worth, who said he’s an Indiana native who moved back to the area from Long Island, N.Y., began recruitment earlier this year for the group he calls Sound Vision Indiana.
The community musical group was for all school-aged children. Members could participate in either the drum and bugle corps or color guard, and were required to pay a membership fee. The group met weekly for practice.
However, Sheriff Tim Miller said they received a tip that Worth had been arrested in Biloxi, Miss., on child exploitation charges, which Miller confirmed Monday.
According to court documents from Harrison County Circuit Court in Mississippi, Worth has a court date set on June 10 for the charge.
Miller said Worth bonded out of jail last year after the initial arrest. Miller said according to Worth’s bonding agency in Mississippi, he had no travel restrictions placed on him and was allowed to leave the state.
Miller said the corps was suspended last week after group members learned of the child exploitation charges and stopped attending practices. He said Worth is still in Peru as of this morning.
