Man arrested in connection with Monticello robberies

MONTICELLO — A 20-year-old Monticello man was arrested Wednesday in connection with two gas station robberies and the attempted robbery of another store, according to the Monticello Police Department.

Raymond L. Kestler was arrested for the Wednesday robberies at Admiral Gas Station in Monticello and Family Express Staion in Monon, as well as several thefts from motor vehicles in the Monticello area, according to a MPD press release issued about 11 p.m. Wednesday. It states that "some of the money and property have been recovered."

Kestler was also arrested in connection with the attempted robbery Wednesday of Main Street Station in Monticello, the release states. Other media outlets reported that the suspect in that robbery demanded money, but fled empty-handed when the cashier pulled a gun.

A second person has also been interviewed in relation to the incidents, the release states.

"A report will be forwarded to the White County prosecutor for review and possibly filing additional charges," the release states.
