Curves upgrades technology

Curves facilities in Logansport and Delphi have upgraded to a new technology.
The CurvesSmart system was installed on Tuesday at both locations, said owner Angie Wisler.
Wisler said she and the other staff members will use the equipment for the next week before beginning to train clients.
“We need to learn it ourselves as a staff because there is a lot for us to understand,” she Wisler. “The machine is used the same way. The technology is what we are trying to understand.”
The new system, which first came out in January 2008, will allow members to access data and receive feedback while exercising, according to Wisler.
“This is the state-of-the-art, most advanced fitness technology,” she said. “It will allow our members the maximum benefit for each and every workout.”
CurvesSmart allows users to have a workout based on their individual body, number of workouts per week, blood pressure and resting heart rate, said Wisler.
Each client receives a special card with a computer chip that stores personal information. The card is placed into each machine and will keep track of the client’s past 10 workouts, said Wisler. CurvesSmart also allows users to immediately know if they are exerting themselves too much or not enough.
Curves has been located in Logansport for the past six years and in Delphi for the past four.

Sonic looking at former Fazoli’s
Sonic Drive-in is reportedly considering the former Fazoli’s restaurant site on Logansport’s east side for its newest location.
The nation’s largest drive-in restaurant chain, which according to its Web site has more than 3,350 locations throughout the U.S. and Mexico, opened restaurants in Marion and Lafayette during the summer. Those locations have both had a steady stream of business since their opening, according to an article in the Muncie Star Press.
In that article, Highland Foods owner Chad Poteet, who owns the franchise rights to Sonic in this area, said he was looking to open as many as 25 Sonic locations in 15 northern Indiana cities, including Logansport.
Mayor Mike Fincher said Wednesday at the Logansport Board of Public Works and Safety meeting that representatives from Sonic were considering the former Fazoli’s location for its proximity to the proposed Wal-Mart Supercenter.
The building has been vacant since Fazoli’s closed in December 2003.
LAA opening consignment shop
The Logansport Art Association’s Purple Palette Consignment Shop will soon open for the 2008 holiday shopping season. The shop will display works for sale by Indiana artists.
