ISP Peru post
adds detective
PERU — Bob Burgess was recently reclassified to the position of detective.
Burgess is an eight-year veteran of the Indiana State Police. He earned his assignment into the criminal investigation division through written testing and a competitive interview process.
Burgess will work from the Peru post. He is a Cass County native and a 1986 graduate of Lewis Cass High School. He holds an associate’s degree in conservation law enforcement from Vincennes University. He graduated from the Indiana State Police Academy in June 2000 and was assigned to the Peru post, where he has worked road patrol in Cass and Miami counties. He is also a certified field training officer, emergency vehicle operation instructor and a member of the Indiana State Police Clandestine Lab Enforcement Team.
Burgess also worked in the Indiana State Police Methamphetamine Suppression Section and as the marijuana eradication officer for the Peru post.
Before joining ISP, Burgess spent six years as an officer for the Logansport Police Department and two and a half years as an officer for the state excise police.
Leadership program to begin in February
Leadership White County, a program designed to promote strong local leaders, will begin with an orientation meeting at 4 p.m. Feb. 4.
The next six sessions will be held on Wednesdays beginning with a meal at noon and ending at 5 p.m. A graduation banquet will be held at 6:30 p.m. on April 1. Each session will be held at a different location throughout the county.
The eight-week program is designed to develop leadership capacity by providing both personal and community leadership development topics; presenting information about the county and current issues; increasing in government and civic organizations; influencing positive change in the county through enhanced leadership; and building a spirit of unity throughout White County.
Sessions will be taught by state, county and community leaders and specialists.
Registration costs $100. Participants may pay their own registration fee or be sponsored by their employer or local non-profit organization.
