• To Logansport and Cass County officials, educators, business people and residents for making a good impression on the 10-member delegation from Mibu Town, Japan. The trip was part of the process of forming a sister-city relationship. The group visited Logansport Memorial Hospital, Dentzel Carousel, Cole Hardwood, Eshelman Farms, Cass County Historical Museum and Logansport High School. One member of the delegation professed being touched by the welcome the visitors received and the willingness of city council members to take time from their everyday jobs on behalf of the city. Century Career Center’s work at preparing youth for their future impressed the superintendent of Mibu Town’s school system as did Logansport’s efforts to preserve its history.



• To Carey Services and the students in its transition services program who recently celebrated graduating high school with a party. The organization offers services to those with mental and physical disabilities. The transition program offers participants help in gaining self-sufficiency and moving into the next part of their lives. As transition liaison Dawn Rector said, “I think every student deserves a graduation party.” We certainly agree.



• To members of the Cass County Amateur Radio Club, who participated in last weekend’s 24-hour national field day. Ham radio operators can provide invaluable assistance during emergencies and disasters and the field day allows the operators to practice for real-life emergencies. The event also allows the hams to practice putting up antennas in the field and making sure equipment is working properly.



• To Donato & Sons on its partnership with Button Chrysler Jeep Dodge in Kokomo. When Chrysler LLC delivered notice it would not renew Donato’s franchise, many wondered what the dealerships future would be. Wednesday, the dealership became Donato/Button Motor Sales, a used car “supercenter.” The West Market Street business will continue to provide service on Jeep products it sold as well as those used vehicles it will be selling.
