LMS Earns Top Honors

LMS earns top honors

Lincoln Middle School received the “Top Gainer Award” from the Indiana Student Achievement Institute at the Indiana Conference on Learning on Jan. 28 in Indianapolis. The award is based on the school’s improvement in ISTEP scores between 2005 and 2008.

The Indiana Student Achievement Institute (InSAI) awarded the “Top Gainer” designation to schools who reached targeted gains in the percentage of passing ISTEP+ tests over a three year period.

All teachers, all students, parents and community members worked together to create a vision for academic success, set academic data targets, identify local barriers to learning, and implement strategies designed to address those barriers. As a result, student achievement at the school has significantly increased.

The Indiana Student Achievement Institute (InSAI) is a non-profit organization that assists schools with the process of change for the purpose to raising student achievement and closing achievement gaps. InSAI uses a vision-based and data-driven approach to school improvement with an emphasis on involving all faculty, all students, and the community in guided discussions related to student learning, education practices and achievement. All InSAI initiatives are based on a sound professional development design with significant technical support for schools. InSAI has been doing the work of school improvement since 1996 and is currently serving over 400 elementary, middle and high schools in Indiana.
