LHS students honored by Advanced Placement Program
Eight students at Logansport High School have earned AP Scholar Awards in recognition of their exceptional achievement on AP Exams.
The College Board’s Advanced Placement Program (AP) provides motivated and academically prepared students with the opportunity to take rigorous college-level courses while still in high school, and to earn college credit, advanced placement, or both for successful performance on the AP Exams.
About 18 percent of the nearly 1.7 million students worldwide who took AP Exams performed at a sufficiently high level to also earn an AP Scholar Award.
The College Board recognizes several levels of achievement based on student’s performance on AP Exams.
At Logansport High School, two students qualified for the AP Scholar with Honor Award by earning an average grade of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams taken, and grades of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams. These students are Christopher Babcock and Molly DeWitt.
Six students qualified for the AP Scholar Award by completing three or more AP Exams with grades of 3 or higher. The AP Scholars are Brent Bagley, Sarah Cahalan, Lucas Carter, Adam Gray, Ashlynn Morrill and Caitlin Van Curen.
The College Board is a not-for-profit membership organization whose mission is to connect students to college success and opportunity. Among its best-known programs are the SAT, the PSAT/NMSQT, and the Advanced Placement Program (AP).

Voters still have much to decide
Voter turnout is down significantly from four years ago when Indiana was in the middle of a Democratic presidential primary. There are some important offices still on the ballot, and voters have a civic duty to take part in the process.
