Based upon the results of our very recent national election, it appears that the prophecy of Norman Thomas, a six-time presidential candidate for the Socialist Party of America, is now very likely to become a reality. He stated that: “The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But under the name of ‘liberalism’ they will adopt every fragment of the socialistic program, until one day America will be a socialistic nation, without knowing how it happened.”
The American people just re-elected a president who is fast leading America down the path of socialism. The liberal Americans in our society and the liberal news media must take much of the responsibility. Greed and a power grab were also an important factor — people dependent upon the government for their subsistence and the powerful unions who are working very hard to increase their membership rolls. If you want a good insight as to what some of the unions are up to, get a copy of “Shadowbosses: Government Unions Control America and Rob Taxpayers Blind,” a well documented book by Mallory and Elizabeth Factor. Mallory is a professor at The Citadel.
If the movement is not stopped, America will no longer be a beacon of hope or the land of opportunity, as it has been to millions from its very inception. Many of the freedoms and opportunities that Americans have enjoyed and fought for will ultimately disappear. During World War II, I, along with many other true Americans, did not put our lives on the line so we could forfeit many of our freedoms. I was married a couple months before going overseas without any assurance that I would even return. Now it appears that those efforts and sacrifices no longer matter.
My only hope at this point is that concerned Americans will do everything within their power to stop our slide toward a socialistic society and to help people realize and understand the real threats against our great nation, both from outside and from within. Speak out and put the pressure on our government representatives so that they will do what is best for America and not be beholden to their financial supporters or overly concerned about their own welfare. I hope and pray that enough Americans will reexamine their conscience so, as together, we can get America back on track. God Bless and protect America.

PUBLIC FORUM: Mayor tells residents of positive change
When the residents of Logansport elected me as their new mayor in November 2011, it was truly an honor.
Our city was battling back from a devastating loss of 1,500 jobs in five years, a recession that wasn’t letting up on the household income of our residents, a divided fire protection commitment in our county and an overall sense of loss in our community. -
