In her Dec. 9 letter attacking my letter of Dec. 2, Bobbi Fisher says, “I thought my days of responding to the erroneous ramblings of Mr. Bowyer and Mr. Julian were over … but I am drawn to them like a moth to a flame.” She is thus claiming that I have invented a considerable number of facts, a serious charge which she does not bother to explain.
Fisher also says that my comment about Lincoln and the slavery issue is “inaccurate.” In other words, I made that up as well.
Arguing the finer points of Civil War history would waste newspaper space and bore most readers. I therefore suggest creating a panel of two or three people, with a good knowledge of history to hear the Fisher charges.
She could spell out all of the “erroneous ramblings” that I have supposedly made as well as documented proof of her Lincoln statement. The panel could rule that one of us is correct (or declare a draw). The loser would contribute $25 to a charity chosen by the winner. I further suggest that Ms. Fisher contact the editor, Mr. Hawes, to discuss creation of the panel.
In an earlier Pharos-Tribune letter, Ms. Fisher stated that anyone who disagreed with her views should “go back to government class and learn a few things.” Under such circumstances, I am sure she will welcome this novel way of demonstrating her expertise in American history.
R.W. Julian, Logansport

PUBLIC FORUM: Mayor tells residents of positive change
When the residents of Logansport elected me as their new mayor in November 2011, it was truly an honor.
Our city was battling back from a devastating loss of 1,500 jobs in five years, a recession that wasn’t letting up on the household income of our residents, a divided fire protection commitment in our county and an overall sense of loss in our community. -
PUBLIC FORUM: Say thank you during National Nurses Week
Having an unsuspected or immediate need for medical attention can be a traumatic event for just about any person. In our current healthcare system, there are entirely too many unknowns.

PUBLIC FORUM: The reality of a new American Promise
Fracking. We’ve all heard the term lately. Fracking is the process whereby water and other chemicals are injected into the earth to cause underground rock formations to fracture, creating space for oil and natural gas to collect and be pumped to the service.

PUBLIC FORUM: This is what you get with a right-to-work state
