PUBLIC FORUM: Candidates trying to escape record

— There appears to be a trend, mostly in higher politics during campaign season, toward trying to destroy the opponent’s life and reputation rather than running on one’s own past record. Two excellent examples are Joe Donnelly and Barack Obama. Neither of them has put out an ad espousing their past accomplishments.

Oh, Obama brags about “getting Osama bin Laden.” He said “go.” That is the extent of his involvement in that mission. It was a command that any of our previous 40-plus presidents would have made. But why isn’t Barack bragging about his accomplishments during the last 4 years? Why isn’t he bragging about raising the national debt by nearly $6 trillion? Or about how he let an American ambassador and three others get murdered on the anniversary of 9/11 because he refused to send security forces when asked? Or about how he has used executive privilege to protect Eric Holder for illegal activities like Fast and Furious?  Or how he forced through Obamacare (which was never read by those voting for it) that will cost higher medical costs for millions of middle class citizens? Or how he makes personal decisions on which laws he wants enforced and which should be ignored? The only thing he can brag about is how he has managed to stay president without ever having to produce a “valid birth certificate.”

Why is Joe Donnelly bragging about how he has represented Elkhart County (in an interview with the Elkhart Truth), but didn’t mention the rest of the 2nd district? Why doesn’t he remind potential voters how he has been a rubber stamp for Nancy Pelosi and Barack? Surely that should get him more votes than just distorting the words of Richard Mourdock. Joe says that he has voted with Pelosi and Obama only 80 percent of the time but with the Republicans 60 percent of the time. Where did you take your math classes, Joe? And if you look at the records where Joe has voted with the Republicans, it was on bills where the liberals had a huge edge. That way Joe’s vote didn’t mean squat and he could still claim to be a moderate conservative.

Come on, Joe and Barack. Tell us something, anything, positive that you have done for your constituents in the last 4 years. We’re waiting.
