Accused child molester surrenders

Lake Cicott man held on $50,000 bond

by Kevin Lilly

A Lake Cicott man accused of child molestation has turned himself in on a bench warrant issued this month.

On July 7, the Cass County prosecutor’s office requested that the court find probable cause for the arrest of 33-year-old Mark Dennis Majors Jr., who turned himself in at the jail on Wednesday afternoon.

After the court’s ruling that police had enough evidence for an arrest, Majors has been charged with two counts of child molestation, one class A felony and one class C felony.

According to records filed in Cass Circuit Court, Majors molested a 4-year-old girl in May.

The class A felony charge carries a maximum sentence of 50 years. The class C felony carries an eight-year maximum.

As of Thursday morning, no court dates had been set in the case. Majors remains in the Cass County Jail on a bond of $10,000 cash/$50,000 surety.
