Logansport-Cass County Chamber of Commerce ambassadors gave the chamber’s executive assistant their annual Ambassador of the Year award this month.
Teresa Zimmerman, an assistant at the chamber for several years, is a “huge” benefit to the chamber, according to Chris Armstrong, vice chairwoman of the chamber’s board of directors.
“She is a very valuable asset to the chamber,” Armstrong said. “She’s just the rock behind the organization. Without her we would not be able to do a lot of the things we do. She keeps everybody up to date on everything that’s going on… I couldn’t even begin to know what all she does there.”
About 30 ambassadors meet monthly for a discussion lunch and attend business-of-the-month celebrations and new business ribbon cuttings regularly. Any chamber member can become an ambassador by attending the discussion lunches, Armstrong said.
Zimmerman got the ambassadors’ award at the chamber’s last 2012 lunch on Dec. 13.
There, the decision was unanimous in her favor, according to Maria Rogers, a former Ambassador of the Year.
Although the award doesn’t usually go to the chamber’s assistant, “Theresa just goes above and beyond anything that’s asked of her,” Rogers said.
Zimmerman “stepped up... as we searched for a new chamber director,” Rogers added. “She’s been there for 10 years and has always, always had a smile on her face… She just always jumped in and did whatever needed to be done.
“She’s just great to work with and we as ambassadors wanted to recognize that,” said Rogers.
Armstrong praised Zimmerman’s passion for the chamber’s work.
“She’s just huge for our organization and she cares a lot about the community and the people in it,” said Armstrong.
