Attempted murder charge filed against Walton man

WALTON — An attempted murder charge was filed Wednesday against a Walton man arrested in August after being accused of firing shots in at a passing truck and hitting nearby homes.
Steven C. Seals, 35, was initially charged with aggravated battery, a class B
felony, but was charged Wednesday with attempted murder, a class A felony,
for allegedly attempting to shoot Ramon Gonzalez, who drove by Seals’ home on
the 500 block of Turner Terrace in Walton.

Cass County Prosecutor Kevin Enyeart said a probable cause hearing was conducted Wednesday in front
Cass Superior Court II Judge Rick Maughmer and Seals was arrested today on a warrant.
According to the police narrative, Seals and Gonzalez had been in an argument earlier in the day and Gonzalez had driven to Seals house after he had called him.
Since Seals’ arrest, Enyeart said he has been working with the Indiana State Police Department to establish the fact that Seals had a “specific intent to kill.”
Seals now faces five charges: attempted murder, a class A felony, three counts of criminal recklessness with a weapon, a class D felony, and criminal mischief, a class A misdemeanor. Seals could have a maximum
sentence of 60 years in prison, Enyeart said.
Seals remains in the Cass County Jail on a $10,000 cash bond and $50,000 surety.
