A teenager who fell from a moving vehicle in Logansport Tuesday night remained in serious condition Wednesday at a Fort Wayne hospital.
Just before 8 p.m. Tuesday, police were dispatched to an accident scene involving a female juvenile falling from the hood of a car in the 700 block of Walnut Avenue.
Officers discovered 16-year-old Mason Camille Branham conscious but bleeding from the head while lying in her mother’s arms. She reportedly could not tell police what had happened.
The vehicle was reportedly driven by 26-year-old Kellie R. Caldwell of Monticello. Caldwell told police that she had been visiting Branham’s mother, Sherry, and as she left the residence in her 1995 Oldsmobile, Branham reportedly jumped onto the hood.
Caldwell told investigators she was driving slowly when Branham slid off the car less than a block away and landed on the street.
There had been no fight or argument leading up to the incident, Caldwell told police, adding that she suspected that Branham had just been “messing around.”
Branham was taken to Logansport Memorial Hospital before being airlifted to Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne for further treatment.
A hospital spokesperson on Wednesday afternoon said Branham was listed in serious condition.
