A Logansport sailor will be home on leave soon and an old vehicle he owns may not be here when arrives.
After consulting with City Attorney Leo Brown Friday, Mayor Mike Fincher said, the city has decided to give Dan Quigney a week or more to notify the city of his intent to sell, move or put license plates on a vehicle parked at his parents’ home on Michigan Avenue. His mother, Julia, appeared before the Logansport Board of Public Works and Safety Wednesday. She said she had no control over her son’s vehicle, which is on her property.
Under the city abandoned vehicle ordinance, Fincher said, the vehicle is considered abandoned and will be removed if the city does not receive word from its owner.
Fincher said the vehicle has been filled with trash for some time and has been on the property for more than 10 years. Quigney said she has driven the vehicle and the contents Fincher is describing as trash are cushions for her outdoor furniture, a bean bag chair and parts for the vehicle.
