Recent area employment numbers were released at Friday’s Logansport-Cass County Economic Development Foundation board meeting.
The area unemployment rate for December 2007 was 5 percent, which was up from 4.7 percent in November. The rate for December 2006 was also 5 percent.
There are an estimated 898 persons not employed for all reasons in Cass County. This is the lowest amount for a December since 2000, said LEDF president Skip Kuker.
Also, 601 people were receiving unemployment benefits through the Logansport office as of Jan. 13, according to the Indiana Department of Workforce Development. That is down from 949 for the same week in 2006.
Cass County’s state ranking for the levels of labor force, employed and unemployed remained the same at 41.
