Miami County teens injured in crash

From Staff Reports

BUNKER HILL — Three Miami County teens were injured Tuesday in a single-vehicle crash.

At 11:23 a.m., Indiana State Police responded to a crash on 800S east of 200W. An investigation revealed that Justin L. Allen, 16, Bunker Hill, was driving a 1998 Jeep Wrangler westbound on 800S when it left the north side of the road near 200W. The vehicle traveled about 135 feet and struck a utility pole before spinning 180 degrees and coming to rest facing eastbound. Three passengers in the vehicle were injured.

April Skyles, 16, Peru, was airlifted to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne. According to police, she suffered a broken pelvis and a broken collar bone. She was admitted to the pediatric intensive care unit for observation.

Lauren Ramberger, 17, Bunker Hill, was taken by ambulance to Dukes Memorial Hospital with complaint of pain to her back and side. Donald R. Arnett, 17, also of Bunker Hill, was taken to Dukes by his father. He was treated for complaint of pain and scratches.

Arnett and Skyles were not wearing seat belts, which police believe would have reduced the severity of their injuries. Allen was not injured in the crash. He was cited for speed too fast to avoid a collision.

All four teens are Maconaquah High School students. They were en route to a vocational school when the crash occurred.
