Kokomo man held after traffic stop
A Kokomo man was arrested Friday after he was pulled over for a traffic stop and a police dog detected the scent of drugs.
Alton Moss, 35, Kokomo, was arrested on charges of possession of cocaine with intent to deal, dealing cocaine, habitual traffic violator, false informing and resisting law enforcement.
According to a news release from the Cass County Sheriff’s Department, Sgt. Patrick Zeider pulled Moss over for a routine traffic stop after his vehicle failed to dim its headlights while approaching on 1100E, just north of 100N.
When Zeider approached the driver, Moss identified himself with another name. Zeider took canine Rohan around the vehicle to check for narcotics, and the dog picked up a scent, according to the release.
While searching Moss, Sgt. Rob Smith reportedly found a large amount of money and a substance he believed to be crack cocaine. Moss reportedly began to run, but canine Rohan ran him down.
Moss was taken to Logansport Memorial Hospital for treatment of injuries suffered in his encounter with the dog and later taken to the Cass County Jail.

Commission seeks historic landmarks
The Logansport Historic Preservation Commission is still seeking historic landmarks to be designated this year.
The commission was established by the city of Logansport to promote the preservation of historic and architecturally significant structures and sites within the city.
To be eligible for designation, a property must be at least 50 years old and must be within the Logansport city limits. The property must retain its historic architectural features, or the owner must have plans to return the structure to its original appearance.
The applicant must be the owner of the property or have verified written consent from the owner. Churches, homes, commercial buildings and historic sites will qualify.
All new historic landmark designations will be announced in May, which is Historic Preservation Month. Designated properties could be eligible for historic preservation tax credits and preservation workshops for assistance in rehabilitation efforts.
Deadline for the May 2009 designations is Feb. 15.
