WINAMAC — Law enforcement in Pulaski County made arrests in a crime spree that began last week.
On Thursday evening and Friday morning, the Winamac Police Department and Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office investigated seven criminal incidents in and around Winamac. By the conclusion of their probe, police arrested five adults and three juveniles on various charges, including burglary, theft, criminal mischief and possession of stolen property.
The arrests stem from incidents starting with a rock thrown through the window of a Winamac residence and a laptop computer stolen from another residence in town.
An officer identified a suspect in those two cases and brought 18-year-old Cody Dalka into custody.
About the same time, reports came in of break-ins at the County Transfer Station, Tom Murray Farms, a building owned by Ralph Braun and All American Realty.
Police identified additional suspects. As they were brought in for questioning, officers obtained more details on the crimes, including information on a break-in at a farm in Fulton County.
Police arrested 18-year-old Bradley Kough, 18-year-old Keith A. Gudas, 36-year-old Deborah S. Schneider, 19-year-old Joshua W. Sparks and three juveniles ranging in age from 14 to 17.
According to Sheriff Mike Gayer, Gudas, Sparks and Schneider, the mother of Dalka, all hid evidence from officers during the investigation. They were charged with possession of stolen property. Dalka, Kough and the three juveniles face burglary, theft and criminal mischief charges.
Police say all items stolen from the seven locations were recovered.
