SUCCEED competition wins funding

The SUCCEED program has been awarded a grant from the Office of Community and Rural Affairs for its fifth annual business competition.

The OCRA grant was awarded to Area Five Agency on Aging and Community Services on behalf of SUCCEED, which stands for Stimulating Unlimited Cass County Entrepreneurs and Economic Development.

The business plan competition is for new and existing businesses with fewer than 50 employees and less than $1 million in gross annual revenue. The winners will receive $5,000 in cash in addition to $1,000 in training funds and other prizes. The deadline for entries is May 11.

SUCCEED also sponsors a high school business planning competition open to all Cass County high school seniors and an “Inventors, Inventions and You” program targeted at fourth-, fifth- and sixth-grade students interested in learning about innovation and entrepreneurship.

Winners will be announced at an awards luncheon on June 16.

For those who would like to learn more about any of the SUCCEED program, there will be an orientation open house from 5 to 7 p.m. March 3 in the community room at the Logansport-Cass County Economic Development Foundation, 310 Pearl St.

Entry forms, regulations, a business plan outline and submission details are posted online at www.SUCCEEDinBusiness.org.

For more details, contact SUCCEED by e-mail at abeechy@areafive.com or (574) 737-2130.
