Man injured in Flora apartment fire

FLORA — A Flora man was taken to Wishard Hospital in Indianapolis for treatment of burns after a Sunday fire that heavily damaged his apartment.

Scott Sisson, chief of the Flora Fire Department, said firefighters were dispatched at 7 p.m. to the Sycamore Efficiency Apartments, 415 E. Clem St.

When they arrived at the scene, Sisson said, the victim was found outside of the 20-unit apartment building.

“The apartment was fully involved,” Sisson said. “We were able to knock it down and contain the fire to one apartment. We were fortunate.”

Sisson said other residents were evacuated as a precaution and allowed to return to their apartments once the fire had been extinguished.

The fire remains under investigation by the state fire marshal’s office.
