Area briefs April 8

Volunteers needed for river cleanup

The Izaak Walton League is looking for people to clean up the banks of the Wabash and Eel rivers from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday.

A pizza party, provided by Izaak Walton, will follow at Little Turtle Waterway Plaza. Participants will also get the chance to cruise the river on an airboat.

Those who are able to help are asked to contact Cass County Conservation Officer Brenda Louthain at (574) 664-9952 to be assigned an area. Favorite spots along the river can be requested.

Trash bags will be provided. LMU has donated a dump truck to haul the trash to Oakridge landfill.

Easter dinner set for Sunday

The community is invited to attend a free dinner from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Easter Sunday at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 1007 17th St. in Logansport.

The menu will include ham, sweet and au gratin potatoes, green beans, cole slaw, applesauce, a roll and dessert. Coffee, tea and milk also will be available.

Anyone unable to attend who would like to make arrangements for a home delivery should call (574) 753-3591 or (574) 753-3977 before Friday.

The Community Easter Dinner has been an annual event for more than 30 years. It is sponsored by All Saints Parish with assistance from Warner’s Greenhouse, Tyson Foods and the Knights of Columbus.

There is no charge for the meal, but donations will be accepted.
