An unusual 9-1-1 call over the weekend led to the arrest of two people on drug charges.
On Sunday morning, a Carroll County dispatcher received a call from a residence in the 11100 block of Sugar Bluff Road in Monticello. The caller reported a domestic disturbance but then apparently failed to hang up the phone.
Dispatchers and police officers reportedly listened to continued conversations, including allegations concerning the presence of a methamphetamine lab.
Acting on the information, Carroll County Sheriff’s Sgt. Dennis Randle obtained a search warrant.
With the assistance of the Indiana State Police, Carroll County Sheriff’s officers served the warrant, but did not find an active meth lab. Police say they did find precursors for manufacturing meth and an AK-47 assault rifle that contained a loaded ammunition magazine.
Twenty-eight-year-old Jennifer J. Garetto was jailed on a charge of visiting a common nuisance, a class B misdemeanor. Twenty-nine-year-old David Stivers was charged with maintaining a common nuisance, a class D felony.
The White County Probation Department placed a 15-day hold on Stivers for alleged probation violations.
Police reported finding several false federal law enforcement badges and identification cards. Since the arrests, officers have met with agents of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms and Secret Service in regard to the fake credentials.
The investigation by the Carroll County Sheriff Office, Indiana State Police, ATF and Secret Service continues.
