Entries being accepted for Walton parade

Parade entries are being taken Fourth of July parade in Walton.

The parade, with the them Smalltown USA Independence Celebration, begins at 2 p.m and line up for the parade will start at 1o’clock in the high school parking lot. Entry forms may be picked up at the Walton Public Library or at the Walton Freeze. Entries will be accepted through July 3.

For the first time, the parade will be announced with the reviewing stand at Country Design Beauty Shop so entries need to be completed in detail. The expected route for the parade will be out of the school on to Ind. 218, east to U.S. 35 and south on U.S. 35. It will then turn west on South Street and north on Maple Street. The parade will end back at the school parking lot.

Entries for a talent contest are being accepted. The contest is for Southeastern School Corp. students only with age divisions of 8 to 15 and 16 to 18. Anyone interested in the contest is asked to contact Carol Woolever at (574) 626-2299 or (765) 432-0945. so that the committee may determine if there is enough interest for it.

Watermelon seed spitting and eating contests will be conducted in Memorial Park nest to the U.S. Post Office with times to be determined.

Walton Volunteer Fire Department will be conducting its annual fish fry and car show. Food will be served from 4 to 8 p.m. and the car show registration will begin at 4 p.m.

Fireworks will begin at dusk.

Space is still available for vendors and concessionaires who are interested in setting up on Depot Street in downtown.
