Plymouth man dies of crash injuries
Police still uncertain of accident details.
Indianapolis — The Plymouth man involved in a single-vehicle crash near Twelve Mile earlier this week has died from his injuries.
At 1:58 p.m. on Friday, 53-year-old Terry W. Wiles died at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. He was flown there from the scene on Tuesday by Life Line Helicopter.
The crash occurred sometime before 10:35 a.m. on 550N near 1050E, about three miles southeast of Twelve Mile.
Officers from the Indiana State Police and the Cass County Sheriff’s Department responded to the scene, where they discovered a severely damaged 2008 Kia Spectra in a cornfield.
Police say Wiles was eastbound on 550N approaching 1050E when the Kia left the north side of the road, rolled at least three times and came to rest on its wheels about 270 feet into a cornfield.
Skid marks were visible in the eastbound lane of 550N. Police said they were not sure what caused Wiles to swerve across the westbound lane and end up in the field.
Police are still trying to put together details, including the time of the wreck. Since there were no known witnesses, investigators do not know the exact time it occurred. Wiles was found by someone who lives nearby.
Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Master Trooper Ron Whitney at (800) 382-0689.
