A Kokomo woman accused of having sex with a Logansport teenager has pleaded guilty.
Twenty-five-year-old Amanda Lain Shafer admitted that in November 2008 she had sex with a 15-year-old boy in the back seat of a car parked outside a residence in the 1900 block of Erie Avenue.
In exchange for Shafer accepting responsibility for her actions that night, the Cass County prosecutor’s office agreed to reduce the class B felony to a class D felony, lowering the maximum time in the Indiana Department of Correction by 17 years.
If terms of the plea deal are accepted by Cass Superior Court II Judge Rick Maughmer, Shafer would receive three years on in-home detention. The cost of avoiding prison time by serving in-home detention will be an estimated $12,000.
The plea agreement also calls for Shafer to complete a drug and alcohol program, as well as to submit to a psychiatric evaluation and undergo any recommended treatment.
Shafer’s arrest in April stemmed from an Indiana State Police investigation into allegations presented to authorities by the Department of Child Services on March 4.
Shafer paid a bail bondsman $2,500 in June to free herself from the Cass County Jail.
Sentencing is set for 1 p.m. Nov. 30.
