United Way of Cass County has raised 95 percent of its overall goal of $510,000.
As of Wednesday, the total stood at $485,582.
Stephanie Patacsil, the organization’s donor relations coordinator, said the community had really pulled together to help out.
“This community has embraced our work and finds it valid,” she said. “The United Way of Cass County works diligently to do the work that is important to this community. It is natural for people to embrace work that they know is directly improving lives and the community as a whole.”
With just 5 percent to go, the organization is feeling pretty confident.
“Thanks to the 300-plus volunteers and the support of the community, I feel confident we will meet or exceed our goals,” Patacsil said.
To help those who have not yet been able to contribute, the organization has added a feature to its Web site that will allow donations online.
“It’s brand new and is something we opted to do locally,” Patacsil said. “I think it’s something a lot of people like to utilize and something they are familiar with, so we decided to keep up with the times and make it as easy as possible to contribute.”
The organization is also accepting contributions at its office.
The United Way will continue to collect money and pledges until the end of the year, Patacsil said.
Meanwhile, a volunteer allocation committee made up of 13 volunteers from the community will meet today to make its final recommendations for distribution of funds to United Way’s 10 member agencies.
United Way board members will make the final decision on how the funds will be distributed.
