Wishing at Winter-Fest

Hundreds show up to see Santa at annual event.

Twelve-year-old Brandon Miller wants an electric scooter that goes 25 mph.

Eight-year-old Claire Graham would like the Nintendo Wii with a game that lets her skydive.

Claire’s little brother, 4-year-old Owen, said he wants a toy truck and a yellow stuffed monkey with spikes on its back.

The wishes of these three Logansport youngsters and those of the more than 100 other children who attended the annual Winter-Fest on Sunday just might come true this Christmas because they let Santa Clause know exactly what they wanted.

As children accompanied by parents and grandparents waited to see Santa, other families lined up for a chance to ride the historic Dentzel Carousel.

The long-standing community event opened the facility up Sunday afternoon for free carousel rides, punch and cookies sponsored by Logansport Memorial Hospital, Security Federal Savings Bank and Wal-Mart.

A $1 basket raffle raised money for the utilities and maintenance of the carousel.

Carousel Manager Bridget Eberhardt was pleased with the turnout.

“It’s nice to be able to provide this for the community when times are tough,” she said in the midst of numerous families enjoying the festivities.
