Three men from Logansport area communities appear on the latest most wanted list from the Indiana Department of Correction.
Thirty-one-year-old Paul Frazier of Brookston, 28-year-old Dustin Lane of Delphi and 34-year-old Jerry Hurt of Winamac all made the list, which contains a total of 280 fugitives.
“Every parole violator and escapee in Indiana is listed,” said Doug Garrison, chief communication officer for the Indiana Department of Correction.
Ten people on the list are escapees, Garrison said, but the majority are parole violators.
“Some of these people get out and think they can ignore their parole and just blend into society,” Garrison said. “But they can’t. They broke the law.”
The list is posted on the department’s website. Garrison said quite a few people browse the site, and he’s hoping the Most Wanted list will get a lot of traffic.
The more people who see the list, he said, the more likely it is the offenders will be caught.
Garrison pointed out the Department of Correction doesn’t want citizens trying to apprehend fugitives themselves. People who know the whereabouts of anyone on the list should call the Indiana State Police or dial 9-1-1 and leave an anonymous tip.
“It helps us take the bad guys off the streets,” Garrison said.
He said it’s important to accomplish that.
“Are all of these people dangerous? No,” he said. “But people who are wanted by the law are desperate, and desperate people can do dangerous things.”
Frazier has been on the list since 2004. He was imprisoned for dealing a controlled substance and possession of marijuana, hash and hash oil. He appears on the list as a parole violator.
Lane, also a parole violator, has been wanted since 2008. In March 2007 he was sentenced to prison for possession of paraphernalia, a class D felony.
Hurt, who celebrated his birthday just days ago, has been wanted since 2007. He served prison time for possession of precursors, possession of cocaine or narcotics, auto theft and receiving stolen auto parts. He made the list as a parole violator.
“We know this list works because these people are getting arrested,” Garrison said.
