Teens accused of drug dealing

From Staff Reports

Two teenagers wound up in the Cass County Jail over the weekend on suspicion that they tried selling drugs to a stranger from their car.

After receiving a 9-1-1 report that two guys in an Acura offered narcotics to a man at the corner of 24th and Market streets early Saturday, Logansport police found a vehicle matching the description a short time later in the 3500 block of East Market Street.

An officer conducted a traffic stop because snow reportedly blocked the license plate. The driver, 19-year-old Mathew Jeremiah Miller of Kokomo, gave police consent to search the vehicle after initially denying the attempt to deal drugs, according to a report.

Police reportedly discovered bags of marijuana, the prescription medication Hydrocodone and baggies commonly used to distribute marijuana.

Police arrested both Miller and a passenger, 19-year-old Jarred Michael Dirrim of Logansport, on charges of dealing a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, maintaining a common nuisance, dealing marijuana and possession of marijuana. Miller was also arrested on a charge of maintaining a common nuisance.

Police say Miller later admitted that they had been trying to sell the pills for $5 each.
