Panthers strike back

ROYAL CENTER — After a second-half collapse last week, Pioneer put together a solid game in a 42-14 win over Winamac Friday night.

Joey Miller rushed for 229 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Panthers (1-1, 1-0 Midwest Conference). Matt Dorris added 52 yards rushing and a score. Sam Kiser added a TD run. Kamrin Buell had an interception on defense, and Dre Simmons had two sacks.

Tyler Katschke led Winamac (1-1, 0-1) with 94 yards rushing. Zach Shidler had 56 yards rushing and two TDs and 63 yards passing.

  Pioneer’s boys golf team took down Midwest Conference stalwart Winamac at the conference meet at Pond View G.C. on Friday.
  The Panthers defeated the Warriors by five strokes, 338-343. The Panthers won their first MWC title since 2002.
