Winamac falls short in MWC opener

WINAMAC — Winamac's boys basketball team opened Midwest Conference play at home Friday evening by hosting the Frontier Falcons.

After three close quarters of play, the Warriors let Frontier open up a 12-point lead early in the fourth quarter before making things interesting at the end. Cutting the Falcon lead to just one with 2:11 to go, Winamac would get no closer as Frontier pulled out the 50-43 win.

After scoring 32 points his last time out, senior Zach Shidler was held to 13 points in the game due a box-and-one thrown at the Warriors. Levi Schultz finished with eight of his own.

Winamac tried forcing the pace of the game through transition but numerous turnovers over the course of the game saddled the Warrior offense. Winamac finished with 19 turnovers during the contest.
