Middle school football practice to begin

Football practice for 7th and 8th grade students from Columbia and Lincoln middle schools will begin at 3 p.m. Monday in the Lincoln Middle School locker room.

Athletes will be receiving schedules, equipment, and other information. All other fall sports at Columbia and Lincoln will have their callout meetings after the start of the school year.

Players can sign up for Bulldog 3-on-3

FULTON — The eighth annual Bulldog 3-on-3 basketball tournament is set for today and Sunday at the Fulton Town Park. The youth tournament will be held at 6 p.m. today, the open and high school tournaments will begin at 9 a.m. on Sunday.

The entry fee is $20 per team and checks can be sent to Marty Zartman, 2327 E. Co. Rd. 600S, Macy, IN 46951.

All proceeds will be donated to the Fulton Lions Club and to the Caston High School Athletic Department.

Under Armor baseball tryout coming to Indy

INDIANAPOLIS — The Under Armour National Tryout, conducted by Baseball Factory, will take place in Indianapolis on Monday, Aug. 6 at the University of Indianapolis. All high school athletes ages 13-18 are encouraged to attend.

Players are asked to report to the field at 12 p.m. for registration, the tryout will begin at 1 p.m. Top players from the tryout may be selected for one of the following events: Arizona Fall Classic, Dodgertown Underclass Select Training, and the Florida National Tournament.

Baseball Factory’s staff of professional scouts, former professional players and former college coaches will evaluate players on the field and lead a college recruiting question and answer session. Those in attendance will learn about the college recruiting process and the steps players should take in order to increase their chances of playing college baseball and receiving scholarships.

Peru bowling league looking for members

PERU — The Wednesday night men’s Hillcrest Minor bowling league in Peru is looking for teams and individuals. An informational meeting will be ehld at 6:30 p.m. on Aug. 8, at the Riverside Fun Center. The league will meet at 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays for 35 weeks with a tentative start date of Aug. 22.

Caston fall sports season tickets on sale

FULTON — Caston High School patrons can purchase athletic season tickets through the mail or in the athletics director’s office at the high school until Aug. 10, then they can be purchased at the football scrimmage or in the school bookstore.

A five-game varsity football season ticket is $20 apiece ($25 purchased separately). An eight-game varsity boys basketball season ticket is $32 ($40 purchased separately). A “Comet 25” ticket, which entitles the holder to 30 punches, one punch for every dollar it cost to get into an event. Pay $25 and get $30 worth of punches.

All-sports tickets for adults are $85, which entitles holder admission to all regular-season home games for junior high and high school. All-sports tickets for students are $45 and a senior citizen all-sports ticket is $30. Family passes are $200 (can be paid in four installments over four months).

All sports and football tickets available at LHS

Logansport High School Athletic Office now has all-sport and football season tickets on sale from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Previous season ticket holders have had their tickets mailed directly to them.

All-sport tickets are $65 per adult and $50 for students and staff. All-sport ticket holders receive admission to all LHS sporting events except tournaments.

Football season tickets are $18 per adult and $16 per student and staff.

Registration being taken for Logansport soccer

Logansport Youth Soccer is registering for the fall season.

Boys and girls ages 4 to 16 years old may register to play. Regular registration costs $20 and ends Aug. 9. Late registration costs $35 and ends Aug. 20.

Players receive a team shirt, equal playing time and individual instruction. Most players wanting to eventually move to travel teams or school teams start play with Logansport Youth Soccer League.

Registration forms may be obtained from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday at Classic Concepts, 823 E. Broadway.

Archery Club announces 2007 schedule

The Logansport Izaak Walton League Archery Club has announced its 2007 schedule.

Open shoot is Aug. 8, Sept. 9 and Sept. 23. They are open to the public. Sign in starts in 8 a.m. and the cost is $10 per person.

The traditional shoot is Aug. 26. This is for recurve, long bow and self bow shooters only. No compound bows allowed.

Iron Man Competition is Sept. 8 and consists of several different events including trap shooting, archery, shooting pistols, muzzleloaders, rifles, shotguns, throwing knives and tomahawks.
