With a new golf feature starting in Sunday’s Pharos-Tribune, we hope to be able to entertain, inform and perhaps even help knock a stroke or two off the scores of our golfing friends.
Bruce Rearick, director of instruction for the United States Golf Academy at Swan Lake Resort in Plymouth, will be writing a column for the Tribune that will be published three to four times a month through the summer.
The column, which will offer advise and golf tips for all ages and skill levels, will be a product of three decades of experience Rearick has logged as a PGA Professional.
Rearick played on Florida’s Space Coast Tour for three years before he joined forces with legendary professional Arnold Palmer.
From 1981-86, Rearick was assistant pro at Palmer’s Bay Hills Club, home to the PGA Tour’s Arnold Palmer Invitational. From 1986-96, he served as head professional at Palmer’s Latrobe Country Club. There he worked on a daily basis with Palmer, playing an estimated 300 rounds of golf with the golfing great while honing his skills as an instructor.
After leaving Latrobe in 2006, Rearick was employed 10 years as an independent golf consultant and golf course developer. For the past three years, he’s used his talents at the United States Golf Academy.
