PREP ROUNDUP: Winamac volleyball has big night

Clark captures medalist honors in Cass’ golf victory

Winamac volleyball player Allie DeFries enjoyed a record-setting night on Monday.

DeFries had 11 kills in the Warriors’ 25-5, 25-18, 25-12 victory over LaCrosse. DeFries became the Warriors’ career kills leader, surpassing Erica Redweik’s previous record of 1,035. DeFries passed Redweik’s record in career aces on Saturday.

In addition, Rachael Franko had seven digs to go above the 1,000 mark for her career.

“It’s nice to see these girls breaking records, and continuing to set high standards for Winamac volleyball,” Winamac coach Cathy DeFries said. “This match was a good chance for us to get a lot of girls some playing time, and work on some new offensive things.”

DeFries also had two aces and two digs. Franko added five kills. Sarah Redweik had 17 assists, six digs and two aces. Katy Anspach had six kills and four aces, and Sarah Doty had seven aces and four digs.
