BUNKER HILL —
Neither the cold, rainy, miserable weather conditions nor the Maconaquah Braves could slow down Lewis Cass Friday night.
The Class 2A No. 8 Kings steamrolled the Braves, 47-0, in their fourth dominating performance in a row.
Cass (7-1, 5-1 Mid-Indiana Conference) is alone in second place in the MIC standings, trailing only Class 3A No. 4 Hamilton Heights, which secured at least a share of the league title with a 33-0 win over Western Friday night and has a home game against Peru next week to secure the league title outright.
The Kings held the Braves (2-6, 2-4) to just 24 yards of offense for the game and three first downs.
Cass, meanwhile, racked up 436 yards of offense including 412 on the ground. The Kings were held out of the end zone in the first quarter but struck on the first play of the second quarter on a 27-yard touchdown run by Drew Shepherd. He finished with a team-high 96 yards rushing on 11 carries.
Pick up Sunday’s paper for complete coverage of the game.
