CAMDEN —
Carmen Sue Wertz, 86, Camden, went to be with the Lord and Savior at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 20, 2013, in the St. Elizabeth Healthcare Center, Delphi.
She was born Oct. 20, 1926 to Virgil and Mary (maiden-McManama) Lenon Henry in Cass County, Ind. She graduated from Young America High School in 1944. She married her U.S. Air Force military husband Keith Wertz on Nov. 1, 1944.
She went to the Logansport Beauty School and opened Sue’s Beauty Shop of Camden. She was a devoted wife and mother of three, and a beautician for many years in Camden. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Camden, American Legion Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary Past Presidents, Dorcas Missionary Society, Camden Cemetery Board, and Aim Hi Home Ec Club. She enjoyed sewing, crafting, bible study, church and her many club meetings. She also enjoyed her family gatherings.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Keith, two sons, Keith Wertz Jr. who died at birth, and Richard Joe (Rick) Wertz.
Survivors include daughters Linda (Wayne) Goldsberry, Walton, Penny (Robert) Richards, Camden; two sisters, Virginia (Bill) Moore, Young America, and Betty (Mitch) Sanderson, Flora; a brother, Fred Henry, Young America, and a sister-in-law, Twylia Wertz, Camden; six grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be at the Cree Funeral Home from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, with funeral following at 11:30 am. Pastor Jerry Long will officiate. Interment will follow at the Camden Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Camden or the American Legion Auxiliary of Camden.
