Virginia Jeffers

Virginia Jeffers, 82, Logansport, passed away at 10:05 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012, in her home, surrounded by her family.

Born Dec. 2, 1930 in Buford, Ga., she was the daughter of the late Hubert and Mattie Lance Porter. She was married Aug. 5, 1956 in South Carolina, to Harry Jeffers, who preceded her in death.

A homemaker, Virginia was a graduate of the Flowery Branch High School in Georgia.

Virginia was a member of Walton Christian Church. She loved her church, sharing her faith and love of her Lord to everyone she met. Virginia dearly loved her family. She was a great communicator, well-known for writing beautiful letters and sending cards to family and friends. Virginia also enjoyed crocheting. She loved board games, watching game shows and Westerns.

Surviving are four children , David Jeffers of Port Charlotte, Fla., Judy (Mark) McCorristin of Eagle Mountain, Utah, Sandra (Frank) Hines of Wabash, Ind., and Scott (Susan) Jeffers of Peru, Ind.; one brother, Hoyt Porter of Dahlonega, Ga.; one sister, Sally Porter of Flowery Beach, Ga.; 25 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Jeffers and daughter, Belinda; and three brothers, Hiram, Leonard and Charles Porter.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, in Walton Christian Church with the Rev. Bill Collins officiating.

Interment will follow in the Ever-Rest Memorial Park, Logansport.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 3 at Fisher Funeral Chapel, Logansport and one hour prior to the service at the church.

Contributions may be made to the Walton Christian Church.
