Wayne E. Lohrman

Wayne E. Lohrman, 88, Cass County, passed away at 12:55 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, in Chase Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Logansport, following a lengthy illness.

Born Jan. 2, 1925, in Carroll County, he was the son of Floyd Virgile and Vera Pearl Michael Lohrman.

On Jan. 1, 1945, in Delphi, he was married to Mariam Buchanan Lohrman. She preceded him in death Dec. 25, 1996. He was later married on Jan. 15, 2001, to Ruth N. Hopper Bowyer, who survives.

A graduate of Democratic High School in Cutler, Wayne was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served three years during WWII.

Wayne was a Cass County farmer. In 1981, he retired from the Grissom Air Force base where he had worked in Civil Service for 31 years.

Wayne was a member of the New Waverly United Methodist Church. He also belonged to the Indiana Farm Bureau.

Wayne enjoyed flying. He also enjoyed building projects and working on the farm. Wayne delighted the neighborhood children with his “flying” UFO.

Surviving with his wife are one son and daughter-in-law, Edwin W. and Hilary Lohrman, Logansport; one daughter and son-in-law, Suanne and Randall Goss, Bringhurst; one stepdaughter, Susan Brewer and her husband Conrad, Logansport; two stepsons, Roger Bowyer and his wife Sandy, Logansport and Nelson Bowyer, Peru; one brother, Ronald K. Lohrman and his wife Teddy, of Tucson, Ariz.; two sisters-in-law, Cora Lohrman of Anoka and Frances Lohrman of Delphi; 12 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Gene V., Dwight D. and Melvin J. Lohrman; and one sister-in-law, Jane Lohrman.

A funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Fisher Funeral Chapel with Pastor Mandie Gould officiating.

Burial, with full military rites, will follow in Davis Cemetery, near Burnettsville. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday in the funeral chapel.

Memorial contributions may be made to the New Waverly United Methodist Church.
