LOGANSPORT — Connie Lee Helvie Velez, 76, Salisbury, passed away Friday, June 8, 2012, at her residence.
She was born June 2, 1936, in Logansport, a daughter of the late Ruth Carson and Raymond W. Helvie. Connie was formerly married to Richard Velez.
She attended Tipton Township High School in Onward. Some of Connie’s hobbies included crafts and making blankets. She was employed as a bookkeeper with Century Place.
Left to cherish her memories are her sister, Judy Butcher, Lincoln; niece, Tracey Newton, Battle Creek, Mich.; nephews, Tony Butcher, Lincoln, Rob Helvie, Cedar Falls, Iowa, and Steve Helvie, Singapore; great-nieces, Victoria and Emma Helvie, Cedar Falls, Iowa; great-nephew, Mike Newton and fiancee, Kourtney Olmstead, Battle Creek, Mich.; great-great-niece, Layla Newton, Battle Creek, Mich.; sister-in-law, Nikki DeHaven, Walton; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brother, Bill Helvie; sister, Norma Helvie; and brother-in-law, Larry Butcher.
Connie’s request for cremation was honored. The family will hold a private memorial service.
