Doyle E. Geisler

BURNETTSVILLE — Doyle E. Geisler, 78, Burnettsville, died at 2:25 p.m. Saturday, March 16, 2013, at IU Health White Memorial Hospital, Monticello.

He was born Nov. 22, 1934, in Carroll County to the late Vergil and Lucille (Hathaway) Geisler, who survives in Monticello. He married Dixie Musall Dec. 30, 1962, at the Idaville Church of God, and they just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Dixie survives in Burnettsville.

Doyle was a member of the Burnettsville Church of the Brethren. He taught Sunday school, was a deacon, and loved giving the children’s message in his animated style. He was a sincere man who loved serving the Lord and helping others. He worked for RCA for over 20 years and retired from Indiana Packers in 2005 after 13 years of service. He was passionate about reading, gardening and lawn care. He was looking forward to spring so he could take care of his lawn. Mr. Geisler was very active in his church and with the Burnettsville community. He loved playing cards. Above all, he cherished his family and friends along with the time spent with them.

He is also survived by two daughters, Michelle (John) Blackburn, Delphi, Melody (Tony) Burns, Delphi; three sisters, Yvonne (Bobbie Joe) Maggart, Burnettsville, Judy (Gilbert) DeWitt, Logansport, Sally Martin, Rochester; two brothers, David Geisler, Logansport, Dick (Diane) Geisler, Logansport; eight grandchildren, Seth, Heidi, Alex (Hannah), Abbey, Clayton, Lydia, Ashley (Kyle) and Cameron; and one great-grandson, Zayne Isaac.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Michal and Danney Geisler; sister, Cheryl Bernfield; and his son, Michael Geisler.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Rev. David Nishiser of the Burnettsville Church of the Brethren officiating.

Military rites will be rendered following the services at the funeral home.

In keeping with Doyle’s wishes of being cremated, there will be no graveside services.

A luncheon will be provided at the Burnettsville church of the Brethren beginning at noon Thursday for family and close friends.

Memorial donations may be given to the Burnettsville Church of the Brethren. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
