Nicholas P. ‘Nick’ Ricci

Nicholas P. “Nick” Ricci, 79, Logansport, passed away at 2:47 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 7, 2010, in Logansport Memorial Hospital.

Born Oct. 20, 1930, in Warren, Ohio, he was the son of Leonard and Anne Marie Gentile Ricci. He was married on Oct. 20, 1956, in Logansport, to Virginia Gallaway.

Nick retired from Kains Motor Service after 27 years of employment, then worked at Rozzi’s Greenhouse. He had formerly owned the Blue Note Tavern.

An Army veteran having served during the Korean War, Nick participated in one of the first tests of the atomic bomb.

He was a member of All Saints Catholic Church. He enjoyed fishing, especially ice fishing, was an avid gardener specializing in tomatoes and peppers, and also enjoyed mushroom hunting. Nick dearly loved his family, especially his grandchildren.

Surviving are his wife, Virginia Ricci, Logansport; two sons, Nicholas Jr. and Joseph Ricci, both of Logansport; three daughters and sons-in-law, Ramona and Monty McWilliams, Fort Wayne, Carmella and Keith Cole, and Suzanne and Tim Quinn, all of Logansport; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Dominic Ricci and Leonard and Sandra Ricci, all of Logansport; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Phyllis Pickens, Logansport, and Barbara and Ron Kiser, Kokomo; grandchildren, Katie, Kyle and Clay McWilliams, Tyler and Brittany Cole, Benjamin and Maggie Quinn, and Bailee and Allyson Ricci; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by one brother-in-law, Kenny Pickens.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at Kroeger Funeral Home where services will be at 1 p.m. with Deacon Juan Rodriguez officiating.

Private burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, with full military honors.
