Robert G. Peattie

LOGANSPORT — Hello, my name is Robert G. Peattie. I was called home to be with my Lord and Savior on Dec. 19, 2012.

I was born on Oct. 3, 1926, in Belfast, Northern Ireland, to William and Charolette Peattie. My father worked as a clerk at the post office and my mother was known as a very promising opera singer in Belfast.

In 1950, I emigrated to the United States and applied for citizenship. My choices were to wait six months or join a branch of the armed services and receive citizenship immediately.  I chose to join the United States Army. I received my citizenship and my orders for Korea and off to war. I served two years with the 45th Infantry, 180th Regiment, Headquarters Company in Korea.

After the war I lived at the YMCA in downtown Detroit where I met my future wife Eleanor. We had three children, Becky Brewer (Howard), Bob Peattie (Connie), and Scott Peattie, all of Logansport.

I was an auditor for Standard Oil. I was transferred to north central Indiana and decided to settle in Logansport in 1968. Tired of traveling often, I decided to take a job at the former Wilson Foods plant where I retired in 1989.

I was blessed with five grandchildren, Kim Gordon, Chicago, Kelly Gordon, Kokomo, Mike Berry (Sara), Kokomo, Jake Peattie, Warsaw, and Julia Peattie, Logansport; brother-in-law, Ken Banks, Morcambe, England; and nephew, Gordon Banks, Manchester, England.

I was a member of First United Methodist Church, Logansport.  I loved to read the Bible. I was a volunteer at the Emmaus Mission Center.

Preceding me in death are my parents, William and Charolette Peattie, and sister, Joyce Banks, England.

You are invited to come celebrate my life from 1 to 4 p.m. Dec. 26 in the Fellowship Hall at First United Methodist Church at 800 E. Broadway

Kroeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Condolences may be left online at www.kroegerfuneralhome.com.
