Ella Kathryn Davis

MULBERRY — Ella Kathryn Davis, 86, Mulberry, died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013, at Mulberry Health and Retirement Community from complications of Alzheimer’s. She was a resident there for three years.  

She was born May 3, 1926, in Mulberry, the daughter of Ray N. and Alta Marie Lawson Whitteberry. On Sept. 12, 1946, she married William H. Davis in Mulberry; he preceded her in death in May of 2011.

Ella graduated from Mulberry High School in 1944. Along with her husband, she was owner and operator of Davis Jewelers in Mulberry for 50 years. She was a member of Mulberry United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir for 50 years and was treasurer for ten years. Ella was also a member of the Community Club, was active in the former Garden Club of Mulberry, and was a member of the Mulberry Town Board.

She is survived by one daughter, Nancy M. (Richard) Cottrell, Royal Center, one sister, Wilma Louise Weaver, Mulberry, and two grandsons whom she loved dearly, Jason W. Cottrell, Mulberry and Nathan L. Cottrell, Chicago, Ill.

In addition to her husband, Ella was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Albert L. Whitteberry and Ray Junior Whitteberry, and a niece.

Funeral services for Ella will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Mulberry Health and Retirement Community Room with the Rev. Nancy Richmond officiating. Burial will follow in Fair Haven Cemetery, Mulberry.

Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Genda Funeral Home Mulberry Chapel.

Memorials in Ella’s name may be made to Mulberry United Methodist Church.
