Robert R. Martin

LOGANSPORT — Robert R. Martin, 86, Logansport, passed away at 12:10 a.m.

Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2012, in the Indiana Veterans Home, West Lafayette.

Born July 2, 1926, in Plymouth, he was the son of Ralph and Alice May Camp Martin. On July 29, 1945, in Indianapolis, he was married to Wanda E. Earles Martin, who preceded him in death June 8, 2009.

Wanda and Robert spent 63 wonderful years together.

Robert served his country in Germany during World War II as a member of the U.S. Army.

In 1991, he retired from the U.S. Postal Service. He and his wife also owned and operated Martin’s Upholstery Shop in Logansport and Lake Cicott. Prior to this, he also spent time working as a mechanic for Indiana Motor Bus.

Robert was a member of Pisgah Christian Church. He enjoyed fishing, golfing and woodworking.

Surviving are two daughters and one son, Victoria L. Adams, Gonzales, La., Deborah E. Cooper (husband: Larry), Pearl River, La., and William R. Martin (wife: Debbie),  Lafayette; 12 grandchildren, Rendi Tharp (Mike), Amy Eberhard (Rob), Jacob Martin, Jackie Martin, Heidi Martin, Kristin Martin, Tony Adams (Donna), Ryan Adams (Robbie), Bret Adams (Frankie), Eric Adams (Aimee) Pam Babers (Alex), and Jeff Hettinger; 16 great-grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; and 13 stepgreat-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Fisher Funeral Chapel, Logansport, with Pastor Ken Smith officiating.

Interment will follow in Pisgah Cemetery with full military honors.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Fisher Funeral Chapel.
