Judy Jane Harris, 79, Logansport, passed away unexpectedly at 3:01 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012, in the emergency room at Logansport Memorial Hospital.
Born Oct. 12, 1933 in Akron, Judy was the daughter of the late Ted and Lucille Leininger Jontz.
A 1952 graduate of Akron High School, Judy attended Indiana University where she met her future husband, Jim Harris On Aug. 28, 1956, the college sweethearts were married in Akron.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church. A devoted wife and mother, Judy’s family meant the world to her. She enjoyed her grandchildren and their many activities. In earlier years, she loved to travel. Judy had a warm and caring spirit which will live on in the gift of life that she gave as an organ donor.
Surviving with her husband, Jim, are three daughters and sons-in-law, Kelly and Tim Rich, Logansport, Kim and Dan Holzhausen and Kris and Carl Hallam, all of Indianapolis; four grandchildren, Casey Rich, Lindsay Rich, Laura Holzhausen, Jacob Holzhausen; sister, Jackie Judd, Goshen; one brother-in-law, Dale Harris and his wife Rita, Fla.; two sisters-in-law, Norma Judy, Calif., and Chod Gibson, Logansport; several nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.
A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. today at First United Methodist Church, Eighth and East Broadway, with Dr. Dean Fager officiating.
Visitation was Wednesday in Fisher Funeral Chapel & Cremation Services and will be one hour prior to the service at the church today. Interment, at a later date, will follow in the Mount Hope Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church.
