BATTLE CREEK, Mich. —
Roy C. Tribbett, 80, Battle Creek, Mich., transitioned from his earthly life to eternity March 16, 2013, at Bronson Battle Creek.
He was born Jan. 15, 1933, the son of Charles and Maude (Helvie) Tribbett in Burnettsville, Ind.
Roy served in the US Army from 1955-1957 as a SP3(T), spending 16 months in Korea. He received his B.S. from Ball State Teachers College where he was in ROTC and was a charter member of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. Roy worked as a computer programmer and data processing manager for several firms including Wolverine Insurance, Eaton Manufacturing, Lear Siegler, Mendon, and TRMI, Battle Creek. He retired in 1996.
Roy was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Battle Creek, for 55 years, serving as an Elder, Deacon, Trustee, Sunday school teacher, Retreat Center Committee and transportation coordinator. In addition to the church, Roy was active with the cub scouts, boy scouts for 16 years; he was a 4-H leader, coached rocket football and summer baseball at Lakeview, was a board member for the March of Dimes, a member of the Friends of the Orchestra, a volunteer at Kingman Museum, a driver for clients at Summitt Pointe and client assistance with Social Services. Roy also enjoyed traveling, gardening, playing bridge and playing senior softball, basketball and baseball in younger years. But, most of all, his pride and joy was his family.
Roy is survived by his wife of 55½ years, Annettie Tribbett; daughter, Kimberly (Mark) Kaufman, Burbank, Calif.; sons, Kevin (Beth) Tribbett, Westfield, Ind., Kurt (Lisa) Tribbett, Scotts, Mich., Kyle (Deb), Saranac, Mich. and Steve (Darlene) Whitney, Kent City, Mich.; grandchildren, Joey, Matthew and Kelly Kaufman, Grant, Chad, Cole, Claire, Ellie, Tyler and Jessica Tribbett, and Mackenzie, Maggie and Austin Whitney; brothers, Paul (Violet) Tribbett of Kingman, Arizona, Pat (Genny) Tribbett of Centennial Colorado; sister, Donna (Brock) Courtice, Royal Center, Ind. and sister-in-law, Joyce Tribbett, Monticello, Ind.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Clyde Tribbett and Byron Tribbett.
The family will receive friends from 4 until 8 p.m. Wednesday at Shaw Funeral Home, Battle Creek.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday with a visitation one hour prior to the service at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Jeff Carlson and Rev. Pat Weatherwax officiating. Entombment will be in Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church or Kingman Museum.
